Church Conversion Design Drawings

I have purchased a redundant church and secured outline approval to split the volume into three separate homes. I now need a qualified architect to translate that concept into a full drawing package that will satisfy planning, building control and the contractor who will carry out the build.

The look I am after is firmly Traditional so the external elevations must respect the church’s historic façade and window rhythm while the interiors feel warm and timeless rather than overtly contemporary.

Inside each unit I would like an open-plan living-kitchen-dining space and provision for either two or three bedrooms, depending on how you are able to make the existing structure work. Every bedroom must have its own ensuite, and each property needs a dedicated laundry area plus a sensible amount of enclosed storage.

Because we are working within an existing shell, creative solutions for natural light, floor-to-ceiling heights and acoustic separation will be crucial. Re-using the original timber trusses where possible and highlighting stone features is encouraged, but I still need the plans to be buildable and cost-effective.

Deliverables I need from you: • Scaled floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and key sections for all three units • External elevations that blend the new insertions with the historic fabric • A roof plan showing any proposed rooflights or services penetrations • Door, window and finish schedules suitable for the contractor’s pricing • A brief written spec noting materials and key conservation considerations • (Optional but welcome) 3D visuals or a SketchUp/Revit model to help stakeholders visualise the scheme

Please confirm your familiarity with conversions of listed or heritage buildings and include a few samples of comparable work when you reply. I am ready to move quickly once I have the right architect on board.
