6 Month FTC (Potential for Permanent)

  • Location: Colchester (Hybrid Working)
  • Job Type: Full Time, 09:00-17:00 (Mon-Fri)
  • Salary: Up to £44,648 Per Annum

Join a leading organisation in Colchester as a Finance Operations Manager, where you will play a pivotal role in managing and developing all financial operations activities. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team of Accounts Officers and contribute significantly to the strategic financial objectives of the organisation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Take operational responsibility for the management and support of the Accounts Officers, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery across the company.
  • Maintain finance operations service quality, covering Accounts Officers’ responsibilities during absences, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
  • Approve Rent and Service Charge related transactions, oversee company purchase card transaction recording and reconciliation, and ensure all monthly balance sheet account reconciliations are completed timely.
  • Maintain fraud monitoring systems, update the Fraud Risk Register periodically, and ensure the successful implementation of eProcurement systems.
  • Compile detailed financial information for year-end accounts closure and provide support during the year-end audit.
  • Coordinate and support the internal finance audit programme and implement agreed recommendations.
  • Control the company’s financial ledger and ensure financial procedures are reviewed and maintained.
  • Provide technical support to Accounts Officers and engage proactively with the development and implementation of new IT systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Awareness of and compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
  • Hands-on experience overseeing month-end and year-end financial close processes, including reconciliations, journals, and variance analysis.
  • Experience coordinating external audits and liaising with auditors.
  • Skilled in monthly balance sheet reconciliations and managing cash flow.
  • Part-qualified in a financial accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIPFA).
  • Strong project management, negotiation, and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage and motivate staff.
