Cloud Engineer – Network & Firewall Automation

Job Overview We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to work closely with Network and Security teams to design, automate, and operate cloud networking and firewall configurations. This role focuses on Infrastructure as Code, firewall and routing automation, and the delivery of secure, scalable, and standardized cloud network environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving automation maturity, reducing manual configuration, and ensuring cloud network implementations align with enterprise security and architecture standards. Key Responsibilities Cloud Networking and Security Implementation Support the design and implementation of cloud network architectures including VPC or VNet design, subnet planning, IP address allocation, and routing policies Implement and manage cloud firewall configurations using native and third-party solutions such as Network Security Groups and Network Virtual Appliances Collaborate with Network Engineers to translate network and security requirements into cloud-ready designs Automation and Infrastructure as Code Develop, maintain, and enhance Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform for cloud networking and firewall automation Support automated provisioning and updates of cloud network resources through CI CD pipelines Standardize network and firewall configurations across environments to improve consistency and security posture Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and reusable templates Operations and Troubleshooting Troubleshoot cloud network and firewall-related connectivity issues in collaboration with Network and Security teams Support change, incident, and operational activities related to cloud networking components Ensure cloud networking implementations align with enterprise standards, security policies, and best practices Documentation and Continuous Improvement Maintain technical documentation including network designs, automation logic, and operational procedures Support architecture reviews and technical discussions with internal stakeholders Continuously improve cloud networking automation, resilience, and operational efficiency Requirements Experience and Qualifications 3 to 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, network engineering, or infrastructure automation roles Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline Technical Skills Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts including VPC or VNet architecture, subnets, routing, and IP addressing Hands-on experience with firewall technologies such as cloud-native firewalls or Network Virtual Appliances Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Terraform Familiarity with CI CD pipelines and version control systems such as Git Experience troubleshooting network connectivity, routing, and firewall issues in cloud environments Working knowledge of cloud platforms, with preference for Azure or other major public cloud providers
