This is for someone who’s flown complex platforms in real environments (not just hobby-grade), can manage risk, and can operate as part of a disciplined flight ops team. What you’ll do

• Plan and execute UAV missions end-to-end: pre-flight planning, risk assessments, flight execution, and post-flight reporting
• Operate UAVs in complex environments (weather, airspace constraints, comms limitations) while maintaining strict safety standards
• Own flight readiness: checklists, maintenance coordination, battery/fuel management, payload checks, and configuration control
• Monitor telemetry and aircraft health in-flight; make real-time decisions to protect people, platform, and mission objectives
• Coordinate with engineering teams on test flights, new payloads, software releases, and performance validation
• Maintain flight logs, incident reports, and operational documentation to a high standard What we’re looking for
• Proven professional UAV piloting experience on operational platforms (not recreational-only)
• Strong understanding of flight safety, emergency procedures, and operational risk management
• Confident with mission planning tools, GCS workflows, and telemetry/log review
• Able to operate calmly under pressure and communicate clearly during live ops
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours depending on mission requirements Nice to have (not required)
• Experience with BVLOS operations and complex airspace coordination
• Fixed-wing / VTOL / heavy-lift multirotor time (depending on platform)
• Payload operations: EO/IR, mapping/LiDAR, comms relay, specialist mission payloads
• Instructor/check pilot background or experience training other pilots
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and approvals (GCAA or equivalent) Requirements:
• 6–12+ years professional UAV flight operations with documented hours on complex, commercial/defence-grade platforms
• Comfortable flying in high-consequence environments: tight procedures, strict safety gates, and real operational pressure
• Strong operator mindset: mission success + risk management + disciplined documentation Flight experience (must-have)
• Significant logged UAV hours on medium/heavy platforms (multirotor, fixed-wing, VTOL depending on mission)
• Demonstrated competence in:
• Pre-flight planning (weather, airspace, comms plan, contingencies)
• Live mission execution with telemetry monitoring and decision-making under pressure
• Emergency procedures and failsafe management (lost link, GNSS issues, propulsion/power anomalies)
• Strong GCS proficiency (Mission Planner / QGroundControl or equivalent
