Supabase Health Data Architecture
Description
I am building a health-tracking app whose core focus is capturing and analysing user data on physical activity, diet & nutrition, and medical records. I already host the project on Supabase (PostgreSQL) and now need an experienced database engineer to shape a solid schema, optimise complex JOIN queries, and write reusable SQL/PL-pgSQL functions that prepare the data logically for complete test-case coverage.
Here is what I need delivered:
• A scalable, normalised database design (ER diagram + SQL) that elegantly links activity logs, nutritional intake, and medical history to each user account while preserving constraints. • Proven JOIN queries that fetch composite views such as “day summary”, “long-term trends”, and “doctor-ready reports” in performant ways. • Parameterised functions or stored procedures that prepare data sets for automated tests, covering edge cases and typical user behaviour so QA can run end-to-end checks with one command. • Seed scripts producing realistic sample data across all three domains to validate the schema and queries. • Brief documentation explaining table purposes, relationships, and how each function fits into the testing workflow.
I work directly inside the Supabase SQL editor and the local CLI, so please keep everything compatible with standard Postgres 15 features already available in Supabase (no extensions that require elevated privileges). If you can reference previous experience modelling multi-domain health or fitness data, that will help me choose quickly.
