Project Background Future4Binti is a regional initiative funded by the State of the Netherlands and led by Amref Health Africa in partnership with Plan International, working with a strong network of local civil society organizations across Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia and aims to eliminate harmful practices including FGM/C, CEFM/U, and to advance gender equality for girls and young women. Future4Binti aligns with the Dutch MoFA Focus Framework (2026–2030), the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, national policies, and SDGs related to health, equality, reduced inequalities, and strong institutions. The programme integrates gender equality, inclusion, climate resilience, conflict sensitivity, digital innovation, and follows a strict Do No Harm approach. alignAfrica is one of the local civil society organization implementing F4B Project in Ethiopia specifically focusing in Dubti, Asayita, and Afambo woredas of Afar Region. Purpose of the Role The Project Coordinator leads the strategic and operational management of the Future4Binti project in the Afar Region. This includes planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement to ensure achievement of project objectives and compliance with donor standards. Key Responsibilities Project Planning and Implementation Lead overall project planning, coordination, and implementation in accordance with the approved project proposal and work plans. Ensure all activities addressing harmful practices, community mobilization, empowerment, and social accountability are effectively executed on time. Prepare activity timelines and ensure alignment with organizational and donor requirements. Administrative and Financial Management Oversee administration of the project office in Semera, including procurement, logistics, and resource allocation. Work in close collaboration with the Finance Officer to ensure budget monitoring, tracking, and reporting. Ensure transparency, financial compliance with donor and government regulations, and adherence to alignAfrica’s financial policies. Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning (MERL) Implement the project’s MERL framework to capture key outcomes and monitor progress against targets. Coordinate data collection, quality assurance, analysis, and reporting. Promote adaptive management through evidence-based learning and documentation of lessons learned and good practices. Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Serve as the primary liaison with regional and woreda government offices, community leaders, civil society partners, and other relevant stakeholders. Represent the project in coordination forums, technical working groups, and community platforms to strengthen collaboration and policy alignment. Community Mobilization & Advocacy Support Support structured community dialogues, capacity building, and advocacy initiatives aimed at transforming harmful norms and behaviors that negatively affect children and youth. Ensure integration of gender responsiveness, rights-based approaches, and youth engagement in all program activities. Reporting & Documentation Ensure timely preparation and submission of high-quality narrative and progress reports to program director as required. Document case stories, success stories, and human-interest stories highlighting project impact, challenges, and emerging lessons to contribute to organizational knowledge and learning. Team Leadership & Supervision Provide leadership, coaching, and performance oversight to project staff including Finance Officer, MERL Officer, Community Mobilizers, and support personnel. Promote a positive, results-oriented work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and professional growth. Compliance, Safeguarding & Risk Management Ensure adherence to organizational policies including safeguarding, gender inclusion, child protection, and environmental responsibilities. Identify and mitigate risks related to project implementation, staff and beneficiaries’ safety, and contextual challenges.
