The organization focuses on mental health, psychosocial support, and disability inclusion across Ethiopia. NCO works in collaboration with government institutions, health and education sectors, NGOs, and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) to serve vulnerable communities, particularly persons with disabilities and individuals affected by psychosocial and mental health challenges. Core Values: Impartiality • Mental Well-being • Advocacy • Partnership • Dedication • Innovation • Compassion About the CADIR Project: The Collective Action for Disability Rights (CADIR) Project, funded by NORAD through Atlas Alliance and directly financed by Youth Mental Health Norway, aims to align national practices with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Implemented by NCO, the project works to enhance access to services for persons with disabilities in Ethiopia through: Human rights and advocacy Inclusive education Organizational development of OPDs Health and rehabilitation services The project addresses the needs of Ethiopia’s 17.6% population living with disabilities, the majority of whom face significant socio-economic barriers. Position Summary: The Hotline Counselor (Hotline Psychologist) will provide confidential, ethical, and professional telephone-based counseling and crisis intervention services to individuals experiencing emotional distress, psychosocial challenges, or mental health crises. The position plays a critical role in providing immediate psychological support, suicide risk assessment, and referral services, while ensuring culturally sensitive and client-centered communication. Key Roles and Responsibilities:  The Hotline Counselor will: Counseling and Crisis Support Provide telephone-based counseling and emotional support to callers. Conduct suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention when necessary. Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) for individuals experiencing distress, trauma, or crisis. Develop collaborative safety plans with callers where appropriate. Assessment and Referral Apply basic psychological assessment skills to identify emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. Refer callers to appropriate health, psychosocial, and community support services when necessary. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation of calls and case notes. Record risk levels, interventions provided, and follow-up actions. Monitor patterns and report recurring issues or trends to supervisors. Professional Practice Ensure culturally sensitive, non-judgmental, and client-centered communication. Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to strict ethical and confidentiality standards. Participate in supervision sessions, case reviews, and internal meetings. Capacity Development and Well-being Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and capacity-building activities. Practice self-care and utilize available support mechanisms to prevent burnout and secondary trauma. Operational Duties Work assigned shifts, including evenings or weekends when required.
