Senior Planning Engineer
Description
Project Planning & Scheduling Develop detailed project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project Define project scope, activities, durations, and sequencing Prepare baseline schedules and work breakdown structures (WBS) Progress Monitoring & Control Track actual progress against the planned schedule Update schedules regularly (weekly/monthly) Identify delays and propose corrective actions Resource Planning Estimate and allocate resources (labor, materials, equipment) Ensure optimal utilization of resources Coordinate with procurement and HR teams Risk Analysis & Mitigation Identify potential risks affecting project timelines Conduct what-if analysis and scenario planning Develop mitigation strategies to minimize delays Reporting & Documentation Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and presentations Provide updates to senior management and stakeholders Maintain proper planning records and documentation Coordination & Communication Liaise with project managers, site engineers, consultants, and contractors Ensure alignment between planning and execution teams Participate in project meetings and provide planning insights Claims & Delay Analysis Analyze project delays and disruptions Prepare Extension of Time (EOT) claims Support contract team with planning-related claims and disputes Cost & Time Integration Work closely with cost engineers to link time and cost control Monitor project performance using KPIs (SPI, CPI, etc.) Continuous Improvement Review planning processes and suggest improvements Implement best practices in project planning and scheduling Key Skills Required Strong knowledge of scheduling tools (Primavera, MS Project) Analytical and problem-solving skills Understanding of construction methods and sequencing Communication and leadership ability Knowledge of contracts (e.g., FIDIC)
