Project Background Future4Binti is a regional initiative funded by the Government of the Netherlands and led by Amref Health Africa in partnership with Plan International and local civil society organizations. The project aims to eliminate harmful practices, including FGM/C and child, early, and forced marriage (CEFM/U), while advancing gender equality for girls and young women. alignAfrica is implementing the project in Dubti, Asayita, and Afambo woredas of Afar Region, requiring reliable transportation and logistical support to ensure effective field operations. Purpose of the Role The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for staff, partners, and materials, supporting smooth implementation of project activities across Semera and targeted woredas. The role also ensures proper vehicle maintenance, safety, and compliance with organizational policies. Key Responsibilities A. Transportation Services Safely transport project staff, visitors, and partners to field locations and meetings.  Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off as per planned schedules.  Support transportation of project materials, equipment, and supplies.  Vehicle Management & Maintenance Ensure the assigned vehicle is clean, roadworthy, and properly maintained at all times.  Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, oil, water, tires, brakes, etc.).  Maintain vehicle logbooks accurately, including mileage, fuel consumption, and trips.  Coordinate timely servicing and repairs.  Safety & Compliance Adhere to all traffic rules, road safety regulations, and organizational policies.  Ensure the safety of passengers and cargo at all times.  Report accidents, damages, or mechanical issues immediately.  Ensure availability of all required vehicle documents (insurance, license, etc.).  Administrative & Logistical Support Support basic logistical tasks when required (e.g., delivery of documents, procurement follow-ups).  Assist in field coordination during community activities when needed.   Safeguarding & Conduct Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and respect.  Adhere to alignAfrica’s safeguarding, gender equality, and “Do No Harm” principles.  Core Competencies Strong driving skills with a focus on safety  Good knowledge of local roads and routes in Afar Region  Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge  Reliability, punctuality, and accountability  Good communication and interpersonal skills  Ability to work in challenging and remote environments  Expected Outputs Safe and timely transportation of staff and materials  Well-maintained and properly documented vehicle  Accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbook records  Compliance with safety and organizational standards  Working Conditions Based in Semera with frequent travel to Dubti, Asayita, and Afambo  Work in remote, hot, and resource-limited environments  May require extended travel and flexible working hours
