Freelance Residential Buyer Required - Immediate Start

Position: Buyer

Location: Surrey

Rate: £250 - £300 per day (depending on experience)

Duration: Ongoing (minimum 3 months)

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Buyer to join a residential developer on an immediate basis. This role sits within the commercial team and will involve working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective procurement across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

Conducting take-offs and scheduling of materials and packages from drawings and specifications

Managing procurement processes, including issuing enquiries, tender analysis, and placing orders

Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value

Liaising with design teams to manage design changes and update material schedules

Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships

Supporting cost reporting, budgeting, and forecasting

Identifying alternative suppliers and materials to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness

Requirements

Proven experience working as a Buyer within residential construction or housebuilding

Strong understanding of procurement processes, material sourcing, and supply chain management

Good commercial awareness with strong organisational and analytical skills

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Previous experience with a residential developer or housebuilder is highly desirable
