The Subscriptions team is part of Spotify’s broader mission to build seamless, scalable experiences that support how users access and pay for Spotify. This includes enabling sustainable growth through reliable, flexible, and innovative subscription and commerce systems. Spotify's Subscriptions Lifecycle Engine (SLE) powers the commerce systems behind every subscription product we offer. From Premium plans to add-ons and new tiers, over 90% of Spotify's revenue flows through this area. You’ll lead teams working at the heart of Spotify’s business, shaping systems that directly impact millions of users and our global revenue engine.

What You'll Do

Lead, support, and grow a team of engineers at different stages of their careers, creating an environment where people can do their best work Own delivery and technical direction for 1–2 squads focused on subscription management, order processing, or third-party integrations Partner closely with Product Managers to shape priorities and translate business goals into clear, actionable engineering plans Ensure reliability and operational excellence for high-scale, revenue-critical systems, including on-call practices and incident response Collaborate with other Engineering Managers across SLE to align on ways of working, technical standards, and team health Navigate compliance requirements such as SOX controls and financial reporting accuracy Contribute to the evolution of Spotify’s commerce platform as we scale our subscriber base and revenue

Who You Are

You have experience leading software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and supporting performance and growth You are experienced with backend or distributed systems and can contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions You understand how to operate in complex, high-impact domains where changes can affect revenue and financial reporting You are comfortable balancing multiple priorities and working with a range of stakeholders You collaborate effectively in distributed teams and across time zones You care about building inclusive teams and creating an environment where people feel supported and empowered You have worked on e-commerce, payments, or subscription systems, or are excited to learn in this space

This role is based in London or Stockholm We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home
