SALARY: £36,363 to £39,862 per annum + Benefits
LOCATION: Hybrid working from the office inWokingham, Berkshire, and from home

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Public Health Researcher to join a forward-thinking public health team on a 2-year fixed-term basis.
As a Public Health Researcher you will lead and support research, evaluation, and evidence-based practice across the organisation, helping to improve public health outcomes and inform policy and strategy.
Working within a public health intelligence environment, the Public Health Researcher will collaborate with internal teams, academic partners, and community organisations to build research capability, secure funding, and promote inclusive, ethical research practices.
This role offers the chance to influence decision-making, champion equity and inclusion, and contribute to regional and national research networks.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Public Health Researcher include:
- Promote Evidence-Based Practice: Support teams across the organisation to embed research and data-driven decision-making
- Provide Research Expertise: Advise on research design, methodologies, ethical approval, and study management
- Develop Research Strategy: Shape and implement a strategic approach to research and evaluation
- Build Partnerships: Collaborate with academic institutions, health services, and community organisations
- Engage Communities: Involve diverse and under-represented groups in inclusive research activities
- Identify Funding Opportunities: Support applications for research funding and grants
- Ensure Ethical Compliance: Maintain high standards of governance, data protection, and ethics
- Raise Public Health Awareness: Promote key research priorities and public health themes
- Support Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to networks and share best practice across organisations
- Monitor Impact: Report on research outcomes and demonstrate improvements in capability and capacity
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in academic or research environments, including evidence generation or knowledge mobilisation
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Proven experience of deg and delivering research or evaluation projects
- Knowledge of research funding systems, governance processes, and ethics
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to present complex information clearly to a range of audiences
- Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
- Experience working collaboratively across teams and partnerships
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive research practices
DESIRABLE
- Postgraduate qualification in public health, social sciences, or a related field
- Experience with health-related research or public sector projects
- Understanding of health inequalities and community engagement approaches
- Experience contributing to strategic planning or organisational development
- Knowledge of health economics or workforce development
