Accounts Payable Assistant - 9 month FTC

A London market insurance business is recruiting for an Accounts Payable Assistant on a 9-month fixed term contract basis.

Reporting to the Finance Manager the successful applicant will be expected to maintain all aspects of the purchase ledger (and general ledger where necessary), across all trading companies within the group in a professional, efficient and timely manner, ensuring a high standard of service is always kept. You will ensure queries from internal and external customers are answered or resolved on a timely basis at the optimum service levels.

This will include, but not be limited to, managing of the Accounts Payable inbox and relevant payables folders, recording of invoices into the purchase ledger system for all group trading companies on a timely basis, ensuring invoices are coded accurately to the correct nominal and profit/cost centres, ensuring that all expenses are approved by the authorised approvers and that all expenses are paid on a timely basis, ensuring the purchase ledger is ready for close 3 working days before each month end close, completing monthly bank reconciliations on a timely basis, undertaking the Purchase ledger Balance sheet reconciliations for all companies, and maintaining the fixed asset register.

Applicants must have proven experience in managing the purchase ledger independently and making payment runs in a medium sized company (Oversight will be provided), have a basic level of accounting and journal entries knowledge (accruals, prepayments, fees, be able to run queries, nominal and profit centre allocation etc.), and have experience of being able to spot errors and be able to determine the appropriate course of action.
