Senior Product Owner - Insurance - Bern - ContractWe're supporting a key programme within a consulting environment in Bern, looking for a Senior Product Owner to step into a critical role within a modernisation initiative in the non-life insurance space.

This is not a "steady-state" PO role - you'll be expected to add value immediately, working hands-on with engineering teams in a fast-moving, agile setup.

• Duration: Until end of 2026 (very likely extension)
• Workload: 80-100%

The Role

You'll join an established agile team (Bern + Hamburg) working on the modernisation of contract management processes across non-life insurance products (e.g. liability, property, motor, household).

This role is heavily delivery-focused - sitting directly with developers, refining features, setting priorities, and ensuring real business value is delivered.

Day to Day Role:

• Own and prioritise the product backlog with a clear focus on business value
• Work hands-on with developers to refine and shape features
• Translate complex insurance requirements into actionable user stories
• Ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose and deliver tangible outcomes
• Take ownership of feature acceptance and quality
• Actively drive agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, reviews, retros)
• Support incident analysis and continuous improvement

Ideal Background / Experience:

• 5-6+ years' experience as a Product Owner / Business Analyst in IT
• Strong background in agile delivery environments (SAFe preferred)
• Essential: Deep experience in non-life insurance (ideally Swiss market)
• Proven ability to work closely with engineering teams (not just stakeholder-facing)
• Strong hands-on approach - comfortable refining features and making decisions
• Solid technical understanding (APIs, microservices, modern architectures)
• Able to challenge, prioritise, and drive delivery

Nice to Have

• Experience in insurance transformation / modernisation programmes
• Jira & Confluence
• Experience working with distributed teams (onshore + nearshore)
• Strong coordination / light leadership capability
