Support Staff Vacancies - Pupil Referral Unit (Tameside) Location: Tameside Contract: Full-time / Term-time Start Date: ASAP
Our Tameside Pupil Referral Unit is expanding its team and seeking skilled, dedicated Support Staff to help us provide a safe, nurturing and structured environment for pupils who require alternative provision.
We support children and young people who may have experienced challenges in mainstream settings and need a personalised, supportive approach to learning and behaviour.
About the Role
As part of our team, you will:
- Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils engage in learning.
- Assist with classroom activities, small-group interventions and bespoke timetables.
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to maintain a calm, supportive environment.
- Contribute to behaviour support, de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies.
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and positive routines.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience supporting young people with SEMH or complex needs (PRU/AP experience beneficial but not essential).
- Are calm, resilient and able to respond to challenging behaviour professionally.
- Can build rapport quickly and work with empathy and consistency.
- Are a strong communicator and a reliable team player.
- Are passionate about helping young people re-engage with education and achieve their potential.
