ROLE OVERVIEW The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all commercial and cost aspects of construction projects from inception to completion. The role involves ensuring projects are delivered within budget, maximizing value for money, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance. The ideal candidate is commercially astute, highly experienced, and well-versed in the Nigerian construction environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare accurate bills of quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, and tender documents for construction projects. Conduct pre-contract and post-contract cost management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting. Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations, contracts, and variations. Carry out valuations, interim payment certificates, and final account settlements. Manage and assess project variations, claims, and change orders in line with contract terms. Prepare and submit monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial statements to management. Conduct site measurements and quantity take-offs at various stages of construction. Review and administer construction contracts (FIDIC, NEC, JCT, or local equivalents). Liaise with clients, consultants, project managers, and procurement teams on all commercial matters. Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle. Assist in the preparation and submission of tenders and bids for new projects. Ensure compliance with company commercial policies and contractual obligations. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Relevant professional certification (e.g. NIQS, RICS, CORBON, or equivalent) — MANDATORY. Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry. Strong experience in construction — Strong Advantage. Experience with high-rise structures and infrastructure projects — Added Advantage. Proficiency in QS software (e.g. CostX, Buildsoft, AutoCAD for measurements) and Microsoft Office Suite. In-depth knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC, NEC, JCT, or local equivalents). Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills. Excellent numerical, analytical, and report-writing skills. High level of integrity, attention to detail, and professional discretion.
