Description
Key Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate EPCC and other commercial agreements (JV, licensing, financing, offtake, procurement, and services). Provide legal advisory on deal structuring and regulatory compliance. Support contract execution, governance, and risk management frameworks. Lead negotiations with partners, contractors, vendors, customers, and regulators. Manage claims and support mediation, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes. Liaise with external counsel and regulatory authorities. Translate complex legal issues into clear, practical business guidance for executives. Qualifications LL.B. from a reputable Nigerian or international university. Qualified to practice law (Nigeria, UK, USA, or equivalent jurisdiction). Postgraduate qualification in Oil & Gas, Commercial Law, or Contract Law is an added advantage. Exposure to international law firms and UK/US commercial law is desirable. Key Requirements: 7–10 years’ experience as a Commercial / Contracts & Procurement Lawyer, preferably on large-scale EPCC projects ($100M+). Strong experience with international contracts, including importation of capital goods/materials. Industry exposure: Oil & Gas (Downstream), Petrochemicals, Fertilisers, or LNG projects. Solid expertise in commercial contracts, FIDIC-based contracts, risk management, regulatory compliance, and contract governance. Proven ability in drafting, negotiation, dispute avoidance, and stakeholder communication. Experience handling claims, change orders, liquidated damages, warranties, guarantees, financing, and dispute resolution. Strong business-oriented mindset with focus on risk mitigation and litigation avoidance.
