GENERAL MANAGER - CHOBE ELEPHANT CAMP
Role Overview: The General Manager of Chobe Elephant Camp carries full accountability for the camp's strategic performance, commercial results, operational standards and guest experience. You will directly lead and develop a team of four Camp Managers and their respective departments. This is a senior, multi-dimensional executive role for a seasoned safari leader ready to command a flagship property.
Reports to: Bush Ways Safaris Lodge Operations / Directors Key Responsibilities Responsible for the overall operation of Chobe Elephant Camp Maintain all aspects of facilities and assets including back of house through best practice hygiene and safety standards for both guests and staff Ensure all documentation, licensing and vehicle registration is up to date and valid at all times, with correct paperwork available in camp Inspect all facilities and take prompt action to resolve any maintenance or other issues Ensure preventative maintenance is scheduled and carried out Monitor supplies, orders and wastage in order to reduce costs Oversee the fleet: ensure vehicle checks are done as scheduled, properly documented, and cross-checked regularly Maintain liaison with BTO and DWNP Liaise with the Maun office including Reservations, HR Manager, F&B Manager, General Manager, Lodge Ops, Marketing and Directors for camp updates and inquiries Any other tasks or duties as assigned by senior management Anticipate and react promptly to all guest requirements Oversee and coordinate all guest arrivals and departures Oversee all camp costs and ensure systems are in place to manage wastage, stock control, cost monitoring and analysis Ensure all financial admin stock-takes, purchase orders, inventory and banking is completed accurately and on time Oversee that chefs follow menus accordingly, managing F&B costs effectively Lead, coach and manage all Camp Managers and their respective teams to ensure standards and operating procedures are adhered to Requirements Minimum 3-5 years in a General Manager, Concession Manager, or multi-lodge leadership role with direct reports at management level Minimum 8-10 years' experience as a Camp Manager in the safari industry Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or equivalent Demonstrable financial acumen: P&L management, budgeting and cost control Experience in Botswana or the wider Southern/Eastern Africa safari context strongly preferred Experience with conservation compliance, community relations and operating within regulated wildlife environments Leadership Gravitas Commercial Acumen Emotional Intelligence Team Development & Coaching Financial Management Crisis & Risk Management Conservation Ethic Cross-Cultural Agility Stakeholder Relations Operational Excellence Guest Experience Oversight Remote Resilience Seasoned safari leader How to Apply Deadline Date: 13 March 2026 Submission Instructions: Send your CV with verifiable references, educational ce
