Attorney Liaison Consultant
Job Description
The Attorney Liaison serves as the primary point of contact between the Bank and its panel of attorneys, ensuring efficient management of legal recoveries, compliance with SLA obligations, and timely resolution of matters escalated through legal channels. The role coordinates all litigation related activities, monitors performance, and ensures alignment with the Bank's legal collections strategy. Key Responsibilities Act as the central liaison between the Bank and appointed attorneys, auctioneers, tracers, and related external partners. Maintain professional communication channels and ensure all instructions, updates, and feedback are documented and actioned. Facilitate regular performance engagements, reviews, and panel meetings. Oversee the end‑to‑end litigation process for accounts handed over to attorneys, including issuing instructions, monitoring milestones, and reviewing progress reports. Ensure timely movement of matters through summons, judgment, execution, attachment, auction, and post‑sale stages. Track compliance with legal recovery procedures and regulatory frameworks. Monitor attorney performance against agreed KPIs, turnaround times, and contractual obligations. Identify exceptions, non-performance, and delays, and escalate as necessary. Ensure that all SLA extension requests, panel appointments, and contract management activities are completed in line with Procurement and Legal requirements. Maintain accurate records of attorney instructions, decisions, and litigation outcomes. Prepare performance dashboards, monthly reports, and trend analyses for internal stakeholders. Ensure all required documentation is uploaded to Swordfish, Sigma, or other relevant platforms. Support audit and risk reviews by providing requested evidence, documentation, and process explanations. Ensure adherence to the Prescription Act, Administration of Estates Act, Banking regulations, and other governing statutes. Address audit findings, implement corrective actions, and ensure ongoing compliance. Assist with resolving escalated client matters involving attorneys, settlements, payment arrangements, or disputed legal actions. Ensure the Bank's position is communicated clearly and consistently to attorneys. Requirements Strong knowledge of legal recovery processes and litigation workflows. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills. High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to interpret legal documents. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and prioritise competing deadlines. Proficiency in collections systems (e.g., Swordfish, Sigma) and MS Office A Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management, or related field, is required. 3-5 years' experience in legal collections, litigation support, or attorney/vendor management within a financial institution, law firm, or similar environment.
