Outdoor “Frozen Time” Interactive Installation

Deadline: 2026-04-10
Project-Based

Description

Budget: $250 - $750

I’m bringing an outdoor art experience to life called “Frozen Time” and need a creative-technologist who can transform the concept into a tangible, walk-through installation. The central idea is to make visitors feel as if a precise moment has been captured and suspended around them, yet still responsive to their presence.

Core objective • Design and build large-scale physical pieces that appear motionless while embedding sensors or other technology so that subtle reactions are triggered as people move through the space—light shifts, gentle kinetic changes, or other surprises that reinforce the illusion of held time.

Scope of work

  • Concept refinement: collaborate with me to nail down the narrative flow and decide which interactive tricks best convey “time paused”.
  • Technical production: source or fabricate structures; integrate micro-controllers, proximity sensors, low-voltage lighting, or projection mapping—whatever solution achieves a seamless, durable outdoor setup.
  • Installation & calibration on-site: withstand weather, comply with safety codes, and remain serviceable for several weeks.
  • Walk-through testing and documentation so the piece can be maintained by gallery staff after hand-off.

Deliverables

  1. Detailed build schematics with materials list.
  2. Fully assembled installation ready for outdoor deployment.
  3. Setup manual plus a short video showing interaction scenarios for future reference.

Acceptance criteria • All interactive responses trigger reliably within a 10 m² zone. • Components survive rain and wind for minimum four weeks without performance drop. • Visitor flow remains safe, with no pinch points or exposed wiring.

If you love blending art and engineering and have a portfolio of outdoor interactive works, I’d like to hear how you’d freeze a moment in time.
