Science Book Editing & Formatting

Budget: $250 - $750

I have a complete draft of a science-based prose book that moves between explanatory passages and dialogue. Before I push it toward publication I need three things handled together:

• A careful copy edit that fixes grammar, punctuation, and any rough spots in flow while preserving the existing voice. • Interior layout and formatting that respects industry conventions for books in this genre, including chapter openings, running heads, footnotes (where they occur), and a clean, readable typeface. • Final typesetting that produces press-ready PDF files as well as an EPUB/MOBI version.

You’re welcome to work in Word (Track Changes) for the edit and shift to InDesign, Affinity Publisher, or another professional compositor for layout; the only requirement is that the finished files meet the specs of common print-on-demand services and major e-book platforms.

Acceptance criteria

• Edited manuscript returned with visible tracked changes and a separate clean version.
• Print PDF that passes pre-flight without font or bleed issues.
• Valid EPUB/MOBI files that display correctly on Kindle Previewer and Apple Books.
