Geological Publication Diagrams Needed

Deadline: 2026-04-07
Project-Based

Description

Budget: $15 - $25/hr

I’m preparing a manuscript and I need a set of clean, publication-ready diagrams and flow-charts that illustrate maps and cross-sections of the geology discussed in the paper. The final artwork has to be built in Adobe Illustrator so I can tweak colours, labels and line weights later if the journal’s reviewers ask XXXX XXXX.

What I will provide

  • Rough sketches, GIS shapefiles, stratigraphic data and the journal’s figure guidelines (size, font style, colour profile, minimum line weight).
  • A clear legend template and a colour palette already accepted by the co-authors.

What I need back

  • Vector Illustrator (.ai) files with all text converted to editable text layers, not outlines.
  • A high-resolution PDF (300 dpi, CMYK) ready for direct upload to the journal’s submission portal.
  • Layers organised logically (base map, structural data, annotations, legend, scale bar) so future edits are straightforward.

Acceptance criteria

  1. Features align accurately with the supplied GIS data (±0.5 mm at final print size).
  2. All fonts are embedded or listed and free for editorial use.
  3. Colours match the provided palette when exported to CMYK.
  4. Each figure includes a scalable north arrow and scale bar.
  5. File passes the journal’s pre-submission artwork check on the first try.

If you’ve produced geological or other scientific figures before, please send a couple of samples or a link to a portfolio. I’m aiming to hand over the rough material mid-week and would like first drafts within seven days, with a round or two of minor revisions after that.

Let me know if anything in the brief isn’t clear—happy to answer questions quickly so you can get started right away.
