Freelance Job Scope
Title: Freelance Geological Review and JORC Reporting Consultant
Objective: Engage a freelance consultant to review government geological findings, study national geological reports, and prepare technical reports that are compliant with the JORC Code standards.
Scope of Work The consultant will be responsible for:
Audit of government findings. Review and verify the technical consistency, assumptions, data quality, and conclusions contained in government-issued geological, exploration, and resource reports.
Review of country geological reports. Study national geological maps, exploration records, mineral inventory reports, drilling data, assay results, and prior technical studies relevant to the target area and commodities.
JORC-compliant reporting. Prepare technical reports, resource reviews, or supporting documentation that meet the requirements of the JORC Code, including transparency, materiality, and competence standards.
Gap analysis and recommendations. Identify missing data, inconsistencies, or limitations in the available information and recommend additional fieldwork, sampling, drilling, testing, or validation required to support JORC reporting.
Technical documentation. Produce clear written outputs, including audit notes, review memoranda, data validation summaries, and final JORC-style technical reports.
Expected Deliverables
- Initial review memorandum.
- Audit of government findings with comments and discrepancies.
- Summary of geological data reviewed.
- Gap analysis and data quality assessment.
- JORC-style technical report or supporting sections suitable for inclusion in a JORC document.
- Final presentation of findings and recommendations.
Term Freelance, project-based, with milestones tied to document review, data validation, and report issuance.
Minimum Qualifications Needed
For this role, the minimum qualifications should be:
Professional standing suitable for JORC work. The consultant should be a Qualified/Competent Person with experience relevant to the mineral type and deposit style being reported.
Relevant academic background. Degree in geology, mining engineering, earth sciences, mineral resources, or a closely related discipline.
Minimum experience. At least 5 years of relevant experience in mineral exploration, resource estimation, geological review, or mine geology.
JORC reporting experience. Demonstrable experience preparing, reviewing, or contributing to JORC-compliant reports.
Technical capability. Experience with geological data validation, QA/QC, sampling methods, drilling data, assay interpretation, and resource/reserve reporting.
Familiarity with public reporting standards.
Knowledge of the JORC Code principles, including transparency, materiality, and competence.
- Ability to work with government datasets.
Experience reviewing national geological surveys, ministry reports, and exploration archives.
Optional Preferred Qualifications
- Membership in a recognized professional body.
- Experience in the target country or region.
- Prior work on independent technical audits.
- Experience with NI 43-101 or other reporting codes.
- Ability to prepare reports in English
