Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Construction Head is responsible for overall planning, coordination, and control of all construction projects and tendering activities. The role ensures projects are delivered efficiently while maintaining strong oversight on cost, quality, risk, and bidding strategy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project Oversight & Control Oversee execution of all ongoing projects from head office Monitor progress against schedule, cost against budget, and project quality performance Review and approve work programs and resource plans Provide technical support to site teams Conduct regular performance reviews of projects Tendering & Financial Input Lead technical review of tender documents and BOQs Define construction methodology, execution strategy, and project duration Review and validate cost estimates, unit rates, and financial proposals Ensure bids are competitive, realistic, and risk-aware Participate in final bid approval with management Support post-bid clarifications and negotiations Cost & Risk Management Monitor project costs and identify deviations Advise on cost-saving opportunities and resource optimization Evaluate risks during tender and execution stages Ensure proper contingency planning Team Leadership & Coordination Supervise project managers, site engineers, and office engineers Ensure strong coordination between head office and site teams Mentor and guide technical staff Drive accountability and performance across projects Systems & Process Development Develop and improve reporting systems and project tracking tools Standardize documentation and workflows Strengthen tendering and execution procedures Client & Stakeholder Coordination Engage with clients and consultants on technical matters Support issue resolution and decision-making
