Application closing date: March 27, 2026 (12:00 noon) Number of openings: 1 Job Description The Brooke is a leading UK equine welfare charity which has been working in Ethiopia since 2006 with a country office in Addis Ababa. The Brooke aims to improve the welfare of working equines, together with the livelihoods of people dependent on these animals. Brooke Ethiopia has established a partnership with the University of Saskatchewan to implement a Global Affairs Canada funded project entitled “One Health Community Partnerships (OHCP).” The OHCP project aims to improved community health and equitable empowerment for poor, marginalized, rural smallholder farmers, especially female headed households, women and girls. The project strives to empower communities with knowledge and skills on animal, human, and environmental health, and promote gender equality with participation by both women and men. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Gender and M&E Officer to join our team to implement the One Health Community Partnership project. Note: Preference will be given to qualified candidates who live in Halaba Zone and have a working knowledge of Halabisa The Role: The Gender and M&E Officer supports the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the One Health Community Partnerships (OHCP) Project in Ethiopia. The officer will work closely with the Ethiopian Project Manager (PM), community partners, and field facilitators to ensure accurate, timely, and ethical data collection during OHCP core trainings and other community-based activities (-trainings, education and sensitization sessions, events, One Health Worker meetings,...etc.) This role reports to the Ethiopian Project Manager and involves regular field travel by motorcycle or on foot when needed. It requires strong community engagement skills; the ability to consistently integrate gender-sensitive approaches across all M&E processes; and comfortable working in community settings including engagement and facilitation. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities 1. Routine Monitoring of OHCP Activities Lead the routine monitoring of project activities in alignment with the OHCP M&E framework. Ensure that all M&E schedules (baseline, pre/ post-training surveys, attendance, activity forms, follow-ups) are followed. Conduct field visits to observe and document training quality, community participation, and implementation fidelity as required. Maintain active communication with W1HWs, local leaders, facilitators, and other key community members along with the PM to verify activity completion. 2. Data Collection, Quality Assurance & Entry Ensure timely and accurate data collection during all project activities such as: attendance, pre–post knowledge surveys, Observational audits Household visits any gender lens reflections, gender model family related checklists Demonstration site assessments Review all source documents for completeness, accuracy, and legibility before data entry and again before submission to the PM and onwards to the Canadian office. Maintain and update any OHCP M&E tools and databases. Enter data promptly and conduct validation checks to identify errors, inconsistencies, or missing values. Report data gaps or anomalies to the PM and support corrective actions. Ensure secure digital and physical storage of all data and forms, respecting confidentiality and data protection policies. 3. Field Implementation Support Support the Project Manager during core OHCP training sessions: manage attendance, distribute and collect surveys/tools, assist PM with facilitating group exercises during trainings, document key observations and learning points. Provide real-time monitoring feedback to the PM to strengthen training delivery quality. Support coordination with local leaders, extension workers, women’s groups, and W1HWs for follow-up activities, as required by the Project. 4. Evaluation & Survey Support Assist the PM and external M&E consultants during: midterm reviews, final project evaluation, qualitative interviews and focus group discussions. Ensure proper sampling, consent, and community engagement during evaluations. Conduct scheduled internal evaluation, including gender equality audits on M&E tools and project results 5. Reporting, Learning & Documentation Support, as needed, the midline and endline evaluations, postintervention analyses, and any other community learning activities. Support preparation of M&E summaries of project activities, including but not limited to: quantitative data tables, narrative updates, lessons learned, emerging risks or challenges. Assist in preparing quarterly and annual reports of data for internal use and funder submission, as required by the OHCP Director. Support in the documentation of success stories, case studies, and examples of women’s leadership emerging from OHCP data, as required. 6. Compliance & Ethical Standards Ensure strict adherence to all requirements including donor, project M&E protocols, and local government reporting requirements. Maintain confidentiality of participant data, especially women and vulnerable groups. Flag any compliance or ethical concerns immediately to the Project Manager and Canadian OHCP office. 7. Other Duties Provide support in related project activities as requested by the PM. Represent the project respectfully in meetings with local leaders, districts, and community structures.
