Merchant Operations Manager (Payments Manager)

About the Role We are hiring a Senior Merchant Operations Manager to build and own the payments infrastructure for our web-to-web subscription funnels. This is a hands-on payments role, requiring deep experience with subscription billing, merchant operations, and payment infrastructure. If you have primarily customer support or general operations experience without payments, this role is NOT a match.
Key Requirements Strong hands-on experience in payments, merchant operations, or billing operations Mandatory: experience in mobile/web subscription products Hands-on with subscription payment systems: Stripe, PayPal, Adyen, Paddle Deep understanding of:subscription billing lifecycle renewals, retries, refunds, chargebacks routing, cascading, and payment recovery processes
Experience setting up merchant accounts and PSPs Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Support teams Knowledge of fraud, disputes, and chargeback operations Key Responsibilities Own setup and operations of payment infrastructure for web-to-web subscription funnels Manage Stripe/Paddle/Adyen, merchant accounts, billing systems, and other PSPs Design scalable processes for routing, cascading, and payment recovery Drive payment-related process improvements, issue resolution, and user notifications Build SOPs, playbooks, and operational documentation Nice to Have Experience with high-growth consumer subscription products Experience building payment-related support processes or teams Understanding of how payment operations impact conversion and retention ✅ Key Messaging for Filtering Start description with “Hands-on payments experience required” “This role is NOT for general customer support or content moderation specialists.”
