AI Systems Architect (Enterprise / State Government) Location: North Carolina (Hybrid/Onsite) Experience: 13 18 Years Client: State Government (NC ) Employment Type: Contract Role Overview The AI Systems Architect will lead the design and implementation of enterprise AI ecosystems supporting state agency operations. This role requires deep expertise in scalable AI architecture, cloud ecosystems, data platforms, and governance frameworks within public sector environments. Core Responsibilities Architect end-to-end AI platforms including data ingestion, model development, deployment, and monitoring Define reference architecture, standards, and reusable frameworks for AI adoption across agencies Lead AI modernization initiatives (legacy AI-enabled systems) Design secure, compliant AI systems aligned with state and federal regulations (HIPAA, CJIS, IRS Pub 1075 where applicable) Collaborate with: Business leaders Data teams Security & compliance teams Drive AI governance, model risk management, and ethical AI frameworks Evaluate and onboard AI tools, vendors, and platforms Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams Technical Skills (Must Have) Strong experience with: AI/ML architecture (NLP, CV, Predictive Analytics) Cloud: AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform (multi-cloud preferred) Data platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, Hadoop APIs & Microservices architecture Expertise in: MLOps (CI/CD pipelines, ML lifecycle) Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes Event-driven architecture Government / Domain Requirements Experience working with: State Government (NC highly preferred) Large public sector digital transformation programs Knowledge of: Data laws & compliance frameworks Government procurement & system constraints
