We don't want a pretty video. We want one that converts.

We are a fast-moving performance marketing team producing direct response video ads across paid social. We need a video editor who understands that every cut, every caption, and every second of pacing is in service of one goal — getting the viewer to take action.

If you obsess over retention curves, know what a hook is before the first second is up, and have strong opinions about why most ads lose people at the 15-second mark, keep reading.

What You'll Be Working On

You will be editing a high volume of direct response video ads ranging from 60 seconds to 5 minutes in length. The content spans multiple formats including ai-generated podcast-style interview ads, talking head videos, ugc-style content, and vsl (video sales letter) cuts. You will be working with raw footage, AI-generated video clips, voiceover audio, and stock assets to produce polished, conversion-focused final cuts.

Speed matters here. You will be expected to turn around first cuts quickly and iterate based on feedback without ego.

What We Need

Direct Response Editing

You understand pacing for retention. You know how to cut for urgency, build curiosity, and keep a viewer locked in.

AI Video Familiarity

Comfortable working with AI-generated footage (Google Flow / Veo, Runway, etc.) Including lip-sync correction and artifact cleanup.

Captions & Text

Clean, punchy captions that match speech rhythm. Bold word-by-word or phrase-by-phrase styling preferred.

Software

Proficient in Premiere Pro, CapCut, or DaVinci Resolve. CapCut Pro experience is a strong plus.

Audio

Able to clean up audio, sync voiceovers precisely, and layer in music/SFX tastefully without overpowering dialogue.

Formats

Vertical (9:16) is primary.

You're the Right Person If...

You have edited ads that have actually run and performed. You watch ads in your spare time and break down why they work. You understand the difference between a brand video and a direct response video. You are fast, reliable, and communicate clearly when you need something. You are not precious about your work — if a cut needs to change, you change it.

Experience with AI-generated content is a significant advantage. We work heavily with AI video tools and need someone who is not intimidated by imperfect footage and knows how to make it look seamless.

We believe in paying people based on what they actually produce, not just for showing up. The base rate starts lean — this is intentional. We are not looking for someone who wants a comfortable salary to coast on. We are looking for someone who looks at the upside and gets hungry.
