Overview:
Volvo Energy is seeking a skilled Data Analyst with experience in analytical and data-driven solutions to build internal analytical capabilities for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) management and operations in the real time.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and define the business use case by analyzing power demand–supply and consumption–generation patterns, enabling our customers to meet their business objectives. Build real-time analytics capabilities for BESS operations to enable scheduling, dynamic load management, and optimization across single or multiple systems. Develop data-driven methods for diagnostics and prognostics of BESS using both real-time and historical data Required Experience: Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python, and extensive experience with data exploration, visualization, and pattern recognition. Strong hands-on experience with machine learning algorithms, including Regression, Classification, Tree-based methods, Clustering, Time Series Analysis, and Deep Learning techniques (LSTM, GRU etc), and Reinforcement Learning Practical experience across the full ML lifecycle: data ingestion, preprocessing, feature engineering, model development, and validation. Experience with model deployment, monitoring, and retraining is highly desirable. Background in Prognostics and Health Management (PHM), Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD), and Predictive Maintenance is a strong plus. Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure and Databricks) and BI tools (PowerBI preferred). Experience with SQL and RDBMS such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and Spark SQL. Exposure to LLMs and GenAI frameworks to support development of agentic AI models is a plus Education and Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in data science and machine learning with relevant experience. Interest in understanding Li-ion battery technology and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Additional Skills: Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with others.
