Group VAT accountant

For our client we are searching for a Group VAT accountant Level of seniority: 3+ years. Job Tasks And Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate submission of indirect tax (mainly VAT/GST/SUT) returns, EC Sales Lists, and Intrastat declarations.
• Responsible for analyzing invoices to determine claimable and non-claimable VAT, especially for complex or non-standard VAT treatments.
• Provide accurate and timely VAT accounting advice to internal stakeholders and global accounting service provider (escalating to Tax Manager Global Indirect Taxes when needed etc.)
• Maintain proper documentation for VAT audits and compliance checks.
• Ensure quality and legal compliance through regular checks of VAT returns and declarations.
• Manage the foreign VAT reclaim process in collaboration with local tax consultants.
• Use ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and VAT compliance tools to manage reporting and analysis.
• Work closely with other finance team members on daily operational activities.
• Liaise with external service providers and tax authorities if/as needed. Competences
• University degree in Accounting or equivalent field
• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience within accounting, preferably with focus on VAT accounting
• Knowledge of finance processes and systems
• Basic knowledge of EU VAT legislation and international indirect tax frameworks
• Good analytical, communication, and project management skills. Interfaces - Stakeholders such as:
• Internal: within function, with local legal entity finance teams and global accounting service provider
