We’re looking for aData Engineer to join our Market Insights team. You’ll be part of of Group Strategy & Business Development (S&BD) providing long term fundamental economic analysis and strategic insights for Vattenfall. Our key product—the Long-Term Market Outlook (LTMO)—guides investment planning, asset valuation, and regulatory analysis across Vattenfall.

What You’ll Learn and Do.

You will work at the intersection of data engineering, energy market modelling, and digital transformation. As Data Engineer you will play an essential role in supporting energy market analysis by deg, building, and maintaining a robust data infrastructure. Your work enables the team to simulate, understand and project energy market dynamics, pricing, and policy impacts. You will be a key contributor to the development and delivery of Vattenfall’s LTMO a strategic scenario product used across the company for investment planning, asset valuation, and regulatory analysis.

Your learning journey will include:

  • Building and maintaining data infrastructure

Learn to operate our Azure-based LTMO Data Hub, including SQL pipelines, Databricks notebooks and Python scripts.

  • Publishing and visualizing data

Help prepare LTMO outputs using Excel templates and Power BI dashboards, while learning best practices in data quality and version control.

  • Automating workflows

Support the team in streamlining processes and exploring AI and cloud-native tools to improve efficiency.

  • Running market scenarios

Get hands-on experience with the BID3 model and learn how we simulate energy market dynamics.

  • Collaborating across teams

Work with IT experts, modellers and business stakeholders to understand how data drives decisions.

Qualifications

Who You Are

You’re curious, motivated and you are ready to make the next step in your career and have up to 2 - 4 years of experience in a data-related role. What matters most is your willingness to learn and contribute.

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Have strong skills in SQL and MS Excel for data visualisation and stakeholder reporting (proven experience); PivotTable, PivotChart and Power Query are no foreign words to you

  • Are proficient in Python and Power BI, with experience building and maintaining data pipelines in Azure Databricks

  • Enjoy solving problems and improving processes

  • Are interested in energy market modelling and how data supports strategic decisions

  • Communicate clearly and like working with IT teams, modellers and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment on assumptions, deliverables and timelines; you like to be a “spider in the web”

  • Are organized and care about data quality and documentation
