How you'll make a difference:
As a User Adoption Apprentice, you will be working within the User Adoption team to plan and deliver quality applications training, give end user advice and produce end user guidance materials which supports the council’s stakeholders to utilise applications efficiently.
The User Adoption team is responsible for facilitating the adoption of new technologies and ensuring effective testing of ICT projects.
What you will be doing:
- You will contribute to the development and maintenance of user guides, training materials and FAQ documents tailored to customer and staff needs, ensuring they are updated with each service release.
- It will be key for you to engage with internal staff to secure their support for new technologies.
- Working alongside our experienced staff, you will assist during go-live periods through direct support and floor walking. This includes being involved with the development of our Digital Champions team.
- Collaborating with all stakeholders, you will help identify any skills gaps and advise on best use of applications to enhance productivity.
- You will help maintain the security of data by applying the relevant policies and provide technical support to digital application users through a range of communication channels.
- To ensure projects are free of defects, you will support the Test and Release Officer in conducting System and User Acceptance Testing.
What we need from you:
- You will ideally hold a minimum of GCSE A*-C/4-9 or equivalent qualification in English and maths.
- It would be advantageous to have good IT skills in the use of Microsoft packages, such as Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
- You need to have the drive and willingness to learn new things and be committed to gaining your qualification.
- We require you to be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have the confidence to handle contact channels such as telephone, email and face to face.
- You must not have a similar qualification at Level 3 or above.

- The learner will attend a weekly two-hour online theory session on MS Teams with Learn Tech.
- Learn Tech also offers additional BCS courses included in the programme which are, Data Visualisation and Generative AI.
- Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship standard core duties: Digital support technician / Skills England
- The apprenticeship will start in September 2026 however, we are anticipating for the successful candidate to start employment with us in June 2026.
- Throughout your 15-month apprenticeship (inclusive of the end point assessment period), we will allocate you a workplace mentor to give you guidance and support in completing your Level 3 Digital Support Technician apprenticeship.
- This is an 18-month limited term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship programme.
- The salary for this apprenticeship is set at the current Age National Minimum Wage (new rates commencing from 1st April 2026):
