Service Coordinator - Emergency Department Antrim Area Hospital Location: Antrim, County Antrim (On-site) Salary: £25,541 to £27,200 per annum, pro rata Hours: 14 per week (Mon & Sat, 10am - 6pm) Contract: Fixed term contract (until 30th June 2026 with possibility of extension)

As a Service Coordinator, you'll help create a safe and supportive experience for people arriving at hospital in moments of stress or uncertainty. You'll guide a small team, build positive relationships with clinical staff, and make sure the service runs smoothly from the first conversation to the journey home. You'll offer practical and emotional support to patients and those with them, helping them feel reassured and well-informed. By coordinating resources, keeping clear records and responding to evolving needs, you'll play a key part in helping people move through crisis with dignity and confidence.
What will a day in the life of a Service Coordinator involve?
- Acting as the central contact point for the team, the hospital and British Red Cross colleagues.
- Coordinating staff rotas, training needs, supervision meetings and essential service paperwork.
- Supporting patients and those accompanying them with calm, practical and compassionate help.
- Transporting patients home safely and linking them with community support where needed.
- Identifying risks, safeguarding concerns or wellbeing issues and escalating them appropriately.
- Ensuring resources such as vehicles, devices and equipment are maintained and used responsibly.
To be a successful Service Coordinator, what will you need?
- Strong ability to organise, prioritise and manage complex tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Clear and adaptable communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Confidence using tablets, computers and basic applications such as email, Word and Teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism and sound judgement.
- Experience working in people-focused environments with an understanding of vulnerable or older individuals.
- A valid manual driving licence would be advantageous.
- Commitment to inclusive practice.
- Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods and supporting patients who need assistance moving between hospital areas.
