Traffic Support Officer - Police Staff

Project-Based

Description

Job description

Main Purpose of Role

Families can be torn apart by the consequences of fatal and serious injury road traffic collisions, and it is the aim of the Nottinghamshire Safety Camera Partnership (NSCP) to reduce such collisions and prevent injuries to members of the public who use the roads and footways of Nottinghamshire. To achieve this, the partnership undertakes the three E’s. Engineering projects to make safety improvements to the road network, Education programs for children, other risk groups and re-educating offending drivers, and Enforcement against offending drivers, referring the same to speed awareness courses, or in more serious cases, prosecution.

The Traffic Support Officer role is a front-line role, using Safety Cameras from mobile Safety Camera Vans to detect and record vehicles that are speeding and committing other road traffic offences, as well as providing a high visibility presence to help deter those who would otherwise speed or commit other road traffic offences that heighten the risk to other road users. The post holder will also work as part of a team updating existing Safety Cameras and processing all offences captured.

There are two posts available. One is full time and one is part time, working up to 23 hours a week, both on a rotating shift pattern covering 7 days a week, with shift times starting as early as 7am and finishing as late as 8pm. Please see the shift pattern document for more information.
