Hybrid: 3 Days On‑Site (Central London)

Our client is embarking on a greenfield digital platform build and is seeking a highly skilled UI Developer to join the team. You will play a central role in defining the front‑end architecture, UI foundations, and engineering standards for an entirely new external-facing web application.

This is a hands-on engineering position where you will influence technical decisions from day one and shape the long-term front-end system. You’ll work closely with product, design, and back-end teams to deliver a robust, secure, and scalable user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development of UI components using React and Redux in a modern front-end environment.

Implement server-side rendering (SSR) for performance, SEO, and secure rendering needs.

Define the front-end architecture, including:

• module structure
• feature boundaries
• reusable UI patterns
• scalable project structure
• code organisation and foundations
• Establish and enforce best practices for:
• linting & formatting
• code quality
• component standards
• performance optimization
• Ensure the UI is built with security-first principles, including:
• MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) integration
• secure session handling
• mitigation of common security vulnerabilities
• Collaborate with the back-end engineering team and understand how modern front- and back-end systems communicate (APIs, auth flow, modern web architecture).
• Contribute to an engineering culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & experience

• Strong commercial experience with React and Redux.
• Proven background delivering applications with server-side rendering (Next.js or custom SSR).
• Hands-on experience establishing front-end architecture on greenfield projects.
• Expertise in UI patterns, reusable components, and scalable module structure.
• Strong understanding of frontend security, MFA implementation, and secure-by-design tooling.
• Solid understanding of how front-end clients interact with back-end services (REST, GraphQL, auth flows, tokens, caching etc.).
• Comfortable defining linting, formatting, and project setup from scratch.
• experience in building modern, clean, and performance-oriented interfaces.

Nice-to-Have

• experience in the financial services or highly regulated sectors.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and front-end build tools.
• Familiarity with design systems or building component libraries.
