API Specialist
Description
A major bank is looking for an API Standards Lead to join a newly‑formed DevX (Developer Experience) Standards & Controls team.
This role focuses on owning and evolving API standards across the organisation, and working closely with engineering teams, platform teams, and governance stakeholders to ensure those standards are practical, scalable, and actually usable day‑to‑day.
Key Responsibilities & Examples
- Own and refine a set of enterprise‑wide API standards and controls
- Work with multiple engineering and platform teams to understand real‑world challenges in meeting API standards
- Lead product planning and prioritisation for API standards and associated tooling
- Define and communicate a clear roadmap for the evolution of API standards
- Run internal customer forums and act as the primary point of contact for API standards
- Champion the use of data and metrics to understand adoption and drive continuous improvement
Required****Experience
- Strong technical background in APIs and API development (REST, standards, design principles)
- Experience setting, owning, or governing technical standards or controls
- Proven ability to lead and influence engineering teams without direct line management
- Product ownership or roadmap planning Experience
- Experience working in large, regulated or enterprise environments
Nice to Have
- Previous hands‑on API development Experience
- Platform, DevX, or internal enablement Experience
- Inventory, asset management, or wider technology controls exposure
