Software Engineer for Fraud Prevention (TypeScript)

Apify powers web automation and AI agents for thousands of developers and companies. With that scale comes abuse and fraud, and right now, we need someone who can take that problem head-on. We're looking for an experienced Engineer to help us detect, prevent, and respond to fraud across the Apify platform. The challenge isn't just catching bad actors. It's doing it without slowing down the legitimate users who depend on us every day. What you'll be working on: Design and build systems for fraud prevention and remediation , balancing customer experience, losses, and implementation costs. Build and refine risk models, rules, and signals that stop abuse in real time. Investigate new attack patterns and deploy mitigations quickly . Develop internal tools and processes to support incident response and investigations. Work closely with Product, Security, and Finance to find the right balance between safety and user experience. Document and share playbooks for common attack types so the whole team can learn from each incident. Who we're looking for: Hands-on experience in fraud prevention or trust & safety , ideally at scale. You've seen real attacks and know how to respond. Strong engineering background with a focus on reliability and problem-solving. Ability to analyze complex signals and turn them into actionable detection logic. Comfortable doing data analysis and collaborating with the Apify data team. Proactive and practical. You don't wait for someone to tell you what to fix.
