The Subscriptions Mission builds and evolves the experiences and systems that allow millions of listeners to discover, subscribe to, and enjoy Spotify Premium. Our teams focus on awareness, acquisition, activation, retention, and commerce — ensuring seamless experiences that help fans connect more deeply with the audio they love while enabling sustainable growth for Spotify. The Commerce Platform powers the purchasing and subscription systems that enable millions of users worldwide to access Spotify Premium. Within this area, the Payment SDK squad is responsible for the technology that handles initial payment transactions across our platform. As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you’ll work on systems that process large volumes of transactions and support the global purchase experience. Your work will help evolve the platform that powers Spotify’s commerce ecosystem, ensuring our payment infrastructure remains scalable, reliable, and innovative as we grow.
What You'll Do
Architect and implement scalable backend services and frontend components that power Spotify’s commerce platform. Design and develop critical capabilities in Java and Python services operating in a high-volume, low-latency environment. Build and maintain the pay-in functionality that enables payment processing across Spotify products. Run and analyze experiments to improve payment performance and user experience. Improve system reliability through monitoring, alerting, and operational best practices. Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful commerce features. Contribute to evolving Spotify’s payment infrastructure and SDK capabilities for developers across the company.
Who You Are
You are experienced with modern JavaScript development, testing, and debugging. You have experience building and scaling backend services using Java and/or Python. You have worked in cloud-native environments such as Google Cloud Platform or similar platforms. You have experience deg and maintaining libraries, frameworks, or developer tools used by other engineers. You have hands-on experience working with scalable databases such as PostgreSQL. You approach engineering problems with strong analytical thinking and practical solutions. You communicate clearly and collaborate well with cross-functional teams. Experience working in e-commerce, financial systems, or high-volume transaction environments is a plus.
Where You'll Be
This role is based in London or Stockholm. We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
