English Teacher - Oldham - £168 to £232 per day

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a high-performing 11-18 secondary academy in Oldham to recruit a dedicated Teacher of English for a full-time maternity cover from April 2026 through to July 2026, with the potential to continue into the next academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced QTS/QTLS practitioners seeking a well-supported role with strong daily rates of pay.

Daily rate: £168 - £232 per day (depending on experience)

The role You will be teaching English Language and Literature to GCSE across Key Stages 3 and 4 on a full-time basis (Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 3:00pm). The role requires a teacher who can deliver engaging, inclusive lessons and maintain a calm and focused classroom environment.

The ideal candidate will: Have strong behaviour management skills and create a respectful and supportive learning environment Be able to adapt lessons to suit a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and learning needs Demonstrate the ability (or strong potential) to support students in exceeding expected progress, for example improving from grade 3 to grade 6 or higher Be flexible, committed and enthusiastic about teaching English

While there is no timetabled Key Stage 5 teaching, the school does have a small and growing sixth form, so experience or confidence in teaching A Level English would be advantageous.

The school This is a successful and well-established 11-18 academy in North Oldham. The school was graded "Good" by Ofsted in November 2024 and offers modern, well-equipped teaching facilities.

The school is known for its calm and respectful environment, where pupils behave well and are motivated to succeed. The sixth form is also a strength, with students progressing to further study at university, including English and related subjects.
