Interim Clerk of Works (Project Delivery)
Based in London, hybrid working & Inside IR35
Length: 3 months
We’re seeking a Clerk of Works (Project Delivery) who will be responsible for the delivery of the Council’s Capital Project programme by managing and monitoring of construction activities on-site of term contractors, sub-contractors’ other departments, utility companies and external organisations.
Key Responsibilities of the Clerk of Works (Project Delivery):
- Supervise contractors to oversee all construction activities to ensure compliance with the Council’s Streetsmart Design Guide, works orders, drawings, specifications, highway construction standards and Project Engineers’ instructions
- Ensure compliance by verifying that all construction activities comply with relevant environmental and construction regulations and local permitting requirements
- Ensure quality control is undertaken by regular inspections of materials, workmanship and construction processes to maintain high quality throughout the project
- Ensure health and safety is implemented and enforced and all safety protocols on-site, ensuring a safe working environment for construction workers and the public
- Ensure traffic management at work sites is correctly managed alongside ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and Traffic Management Act 2004
- Meet with Developers when necessary to ensure compliance with the Highway Act in constructing their works and assess their requirements from the Council in doing so
- Be accountable and responsible for the delivery of construction phase for small to major sized projects
- Meet contractors regularly to ensure project delivery and compliance with contract Key Performance Indicators
Skills, Experience and Knowledge required of the Clerk of Works (Project Delivery):
Experience of working in the Transport and Highways industry at a project delivery level
Experience of working within current legislation including:
The Highways Act 1980
New Roads and Street Works Act 1991
Traffic Management Act 2014
Road Traffic Regulations 1984
Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
Flood Water Management Act 2010
Town and Country Planning Act 1990
Including required codes of practice and statutory instruments
Have the technical expertise and experience to manage the delivery of Highways and traffic projects
Experience of delivering projects, including managing contractors and sub-contractors
