Level 2 Teaching Assistant - SEN Schools | Wellingborough & Rushden | Via Tradewind Recruitment
Are you a passionate and experienced Level 2 Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact in education? Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools across Wellingborough and Rushden, who are seeking dedicated and adaptable support staff to join their teams.
These specialist settings support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), SLCN (Speech, Language and Communication Needs), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and physical disabilities, across a broad spectrum of learning levels from MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) to PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties). Schools are looking for individuals who can provide both academic and personal support, helping pupils to thrive in structured, inclusive, and nurturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with diverse SEN needs
- Support communication using a range of methods such as PECS, Makaton, BSL, and AAC
- Assist with personal care, ensuring dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times
- Support pupils during swimming activities and physical development sessions
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
Requirements:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN across a range of needs and abilities
- Strong understanding of alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, BSL, AAC)
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies
- Comfortable supporting personal care and physical activities
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
