This welcoming and well-resourced school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), SLCN (Speech, Language and Communication Needs), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and physical disabilities, across a broad spectrum of learning abilities from MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) to PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties). Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs
• Support communication using methods such as PECS, Makaton, BSL, and AAC
• Assist with personal care, ensuring dignity and wellbeing at all times
• Support pupils in swimming sessions and physical development activities
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Requirements:

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly across MLD-PMLD
• Knowledge of alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, BSL, AAC)
• Understanding of supporting pupils with SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies
• Comfortable supporting personal care and physical activities
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
