Role Overview - SEN Teaching Assistant

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them access learning and build confidence. The SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to deliver tailored support strategies within the Waltham Forest school.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant

• Provide 1:1 support as a SEN Teaching Assistant for pupils with additional needs
• Support small group interventions as a SEN Teaching Assistant
• Assist in implementing EHCP targets and learning plans
• Help maintain a positive and structured learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff

Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant

• Experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEN
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs is desirable
• Commitment to making an impact as a SEN Teaching Assistant
