Team Leader - Food Manufacturing

Location: HU3

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm

Are you an experienced Team Leader looking for your next opportunity in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment? We're recruiting for a hands-on, motivated leader to oversee a busy packing area and support a team of 8+ operatives.

The Role

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the packing department, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You'll provide clear guidance to your team, promote best practice, and help maintain a positive and productive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and support a team of production/packing operatives
  • Oversee daily packing operations to ensure output targets and deadlines are met
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and GMP at all times
  • Conduct daily start-up checks, ensure machinery and equipment are safe and operational
  • Coordinate workflow, allocate tasks, and monitor team performance
  • Train new starters and support ongoing development of the team
  • Ensure accurate completion of production and quality paperwork
  • Communicate effectively with Production Managers, Quality, and other departments
  • Drive continuous improvement within the production area
  • Manage stock levels of packaging materials and report shortages
  • Identify and address issues quickly, escalating when needed
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations and company policies

About You

  • Previous experience as a Team Leader or Senior Operative in a food factory
  • Strong background in a packing or production environment
  • Confident managing and organising a team of 8+ people
  • Knowledge of food safety, quality standards, and HACCP
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • A proactive, positive leader who sets the standard for others
