Location: London Heathrow (Hybrid, 3 days in the office)

This pivotal role will shape and oversee our AI governance ecosystem, ensuring we can confidently balance innovation with responsibility.

The Role

As the AI Governance Lead, you will define and drive our AI governance strategy across the organisation. You will lead the development of governance frameworks, partner with senior stakeholders, track evolving legislation, and ensure the continued ethical and compliant operation of AI and ML systems.This is a rare opportunity to influence how a major organisation designs and governs AI, setting standards that will shape our future.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the group-wide AI Systems Register, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive AI Governance Framework covering policy, process, ethics, and compliance.
• Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to enforce safe and ethical use of AI across the organisation.
• Establish and promote standards for fairness, transparency, accountability, and bias mitigation.
• Monitor emerging AI legislation and industry best practices, embedding them into governance.
• Co-create organisation-wide AI governance training in partnership with central enablement teams.
• Provide ongoing training, guidance, and updates to stakeholders on responsible AI.
• Ensure all AI systems comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Partner with product owners to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies for AI solutions.
• Act as the key contact for external audit teams during AI-related audits.
• Implement monitoring mechanisms to assess AI system performance and governance adherence.
• Produce clear documentation and regular governance reports for senior leadership.

Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience governing AI systems (built internally or sourced externally).
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence at all levels.
• Proven expertise in deg and implementing governance frameworks and policies.
• Strong understanding of AI legislation, regulatory environments, and best practices.
• Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation quality.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Relevant certifications in AI, governance, or data ethics are desirable.
