Newstaff Employment Services is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant on behalf of our client, to support the Head of Finance with the day-to-day financial management.

This is a Fixed-Term Contract for between 9 and 12 months.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with various finance-related tasks, including processing transactions, managing records, and supporting the finance team in day-to-day operations. If you have a keen eye for detail and a passion for finance, we invite you to apply!

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with invoice processing and payment administration.
  • Maintain financial records and ensure all transactions are accurately documented.
  • Support with monthly reconciliations of bank statements and ledgers.
  • Help prepare financial reports and assist in budget preparation.
  • Respond to financial inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth financial operation.
  • Support the Finance team in any other ad-hoc tasks as required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a Finance Assistant or similar role is required.

  • Level 2 AAT or equivalent finance/bookkeeping qualification is ideal.

  • Finance experience within a law firm setting and knowledge of Solicitor Accounts rules would be desirable.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage is ideal) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm One hour lunch

Benefits

Salary: £29,000 pa - £34,000 pa (pro-rata) depending on experience
