Data Warehouse Engineer - €450 - Remote
Overview We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Warehouse Engineer to join our expanding IT team, responsible for the development and maintenance of our mission-critical data platforms.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Data Warehouse (DWH) Development Team and will bring a strong passion for data warehousing and analytics. You will have experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and stay current with emerging trends in the DW/BI domain.
This role involves deg and developing enterprise data warehouses, ETL/ELT processes, and data marts across on-premise and public cloud environments. You will work closely with business stakeholders and management to deliver strategic data solutions while ensuring new developments are aligned and reconciled with legacy reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement ETL processes to ingest data from internal and external sources, ensuring data validation and quality controls are applied.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to support the development, evolution, and effective use of the data warehouse architecture.
- Work closely with business analysts and project managers to define, develop, and refine reporting and analytics requirements.
- Contribute to complex projects requiring both deep technical expertise and broad business understanding.
- Participate in project delivery activities including requirements clarification, systems analysis, development, enhancement, maintenance, and support.
- Lead and contribute to planning sessions with business users to analyse requirements and provide sound technical and architectural design recommendations.
- Produce clear, concise technical design and specification documents based on complex business needs.
- Translate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable data solutions.
- Support reconciliation of new data solutions with existing legacy reports to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Experience & Technical Skills
- Advanced SQL expertise, including complex stored procedures, functions, query optimisation, and indexing strategies.
- 7+ years' experience with SQL Server Database and SSIS.
- Proven experience delivering scalable, reliable enterprise Data Warehouse solutions.
- Strong data modelling and dimensional modelling skills, including Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCDs).
- Experience with data quality management and data profiling techniques.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT design and development.
- Experience deg, building, and maintaining large or complex data warehouse environments (desirable).
- Experience with Tableau (desirable).
- Experience with Azure Data Storage, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL Database (desirable).
- Experience using Azure DevOps (pipelines, repositories, releases, CI/CD) (desirable).
