Service Designer - Central Government (Contract)
Duration: 3 Months Rate: £400 - £450 per day (Inside IR35) Location: Remote with occasional travel to London
We are seeking an experienced Service Designer to support a large UK Central Government department on an initial 3-month contract. This role is ideal for someone who has previously worked in government environments and is confident operating within GDS standards.
The Role
You will play a key role in shaping and improving public services, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to design user-centred, end-to-end services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deg services within a large UK government organisation
- Applying service design principles across complex, multi-channel services
- Collaborating with product managers, user researchers, content designers, and developers
- Mapping service journeys and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Ensuring services meet GDS standards and best practice
About You
Essential experience:
- Proven experience working as a Service Designer within Central Government
- Strong knowledge of GDS and hands-on experience using the GOV.UK Design System
- Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to communicate service design concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders
