Service Designer - Central Government (Contract)

Duration: 3 Months Rate: £400 - £450 per day (Inside IR35) Location: Remote with occasional travel to London

We are seeking an experienced Service Designer to support a large UK Central Government department on an initial 3-month contract. This role is ideal for someone who has previously worked in government environments and is confident operating within GDS standards.

The Role

You will play a key role in shaping and improving public services, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to design user-centred, end-to-end services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Deg services within a large UK government organisation
• Applying service design principles across complex, multi-channel services
• Collaborating with product managers, user researchers, content designers, and developers
• Mapping service journeys and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Ensuring services meet GDS standards and best practice

About You

Essential experience:

• Proven experience working as a Service Designer within Central Government
• Strong knowledge of GDS and hands-on experience using the GOV.UK Design System
• Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to communicate service design concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders
