Senior Building Safety Officer
Support the Housing Asset Team at a large Local Authority. This role will play a key part in ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and associated statutory requirements, while coordinating and assuring all building-related safety activities across the Council’s housing stock.
Start: ASAP Duration: 3-6 Months+ Rate: Negotiable dependant on experience (Inside IR35) Location: Bedfordshire / Hybrid
Key Responsibilities: • Coordinate and maintain Building Safety Case and Safety Case Reports for high-risk buildings • Ensure compliance with Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and internal safety management systems • Act as a key liaison with the Principal Accountable Person (PAP), Fire Service, Building Safety Regulator, and other agencies • Deliver resident engagement strategies and mandatory occurrence reporting • Provide training, coaching, and professional advice on risk assessment and building safety compliance • Monitor and report on building safety performance, ensuring timely corrective actions • Support emergency response and business continuity planning • Advise on legislative changes and their implications for housing services
Requirements: • Minimum 3 years’ experience in health & safety advisory roles within building environments • Strong knowledge of Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, Building Regulations 2010, and CDM 2015 • NEBOSH Level 3 Diploma or equivalent qualification (preferably Fire Safety) • Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and compliance management • Ability to attend site inspections and respond to emergencies outside normal working hours
