Data Project Manager

Our central government client is looking for a Data Project Manager for an initial 8-week contract. Our client's Data & Information function delivers a suite of corporate data systems that underpin critical operations across the organisation. These services span data sharing and publishing, data management, modelling, GIS, and a range of initiatives designed to improve how data is managed, accessed, and used.

To support this, the team builds and oversees an investment portfolio of projects that enhance existing capabilities and develop new ones. Some of these projects are delivered through their IT provider, while others are led internally by SMEs. As the portfolio grows, they are trialling a new approach: bringing in a dedicated Project Manager to provide structure, assurance, and delivery oversight across several data-driven projects.

What You'll Work On:

• You will support a varied and evolving portfolio of data projects, including:
• Central Platform Migration - Supporting the discovery phase and shaping the future direction of our core data platform.
• Trustworthy Data Initiatives - Enabling improvements in data reliability, governance, and transparency.
• Data Standards & Data Quality Projects - Overseeing work such as the development of a data standards repository and wider data quality enhancements.
• Other Data-Led Workstreams - Providing project management support across multiple initiatives delivered by both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Skills Required:

• Must have worked within central government previously
• Have experience managing multiple projects simultaneously within data
• Be comfortable working in a setting where processes are evolving and new ways of working are being trialled.
• Build strong relationships with SMEs, technical leads, suppliers, and delivery partners.
